About Sioux City Concert Course

Sioux City Concert Course is a musical arts organization. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Siouxland area by presenting a concert series which includes great artists in the world of music. A wide variety of musical events will be offered, instrumental, vocal, dance and other attractions, ranging from large and small ensembles to solo performances. Concert Course also believes that it is important for the youth of this community to have the opportunity to view and hear quality artists and so have established a free ticket program for students.

We were founded in 1915 when a group of six women from the Sioux City Women’s Club and Dr. Paul McCollin, Director of the Morningside College Conservatory of Music, decided to establish an organization dedicated to presenting outstanding musical artists through a series of concerts that would be continuous from year to year. The first concert series was presented in 1916-1917 and has continued annually to the present time.

We are a non-profit organization and are funded through annual memberships and single admission sales along with financial contributions by our members and the business community. A volunteer Board of Directors meets monthly to manage the affairs and business of Concert Course.

Concert Course presents six concerts a year starting in September and ending in April. Our concerts are usually held at Eppley Auditorium on the campus of Morningside College. The artists and program for this year are described at this web site in the section entitled “Our 2011-2012 Season Line-up.”
